How could a label claim to be offering quality House vibes without a proper NY representative?
LAYER07 welcomes a duo of house producers and DJs from New York, crafting their own unique style of House marked by quick drops, cuts and snappy energy.
Jon Billick and Brian Morse collectively pursue new musical ground as Wreal, while also cultivating allied sounds on their Cahoots Records imprint, and already seen their music supported by artists of the likes of Slam or Javi Bora to name a few.
In the past months they worked on a handful of quality releases for which they received great radio and DJ support, they’ve been hitting the decks in Paris and Amsterdam with an explosive blend of House music, and with their last effort on Layers they are once again proving to be an act to watch out for in the future.
Wreal's production style embraces all spectrums of house from swung-out and funky to deep and dubby, and the experience in building tracks with analog sounds, live instruments and samples, taken from their vinyl collection, always brings fresh ideas to their music.
The NYU EP sets once again the standards high for the duo, with both the original cuts conceived with a strong focus on the beat, hammering throughout both tracks and providing a solid base for the filtered samples and vocal bits.
Feel Good gets remixed by Joss Moog, and the French producer well known for his releases on Robsoul felt it was best to offer a double take on the original samples, also adding new soulful vocals to the track. Both Joss Moog’s remixes offer a similar approach, giving new life to Wreal’s production with his own trademark sound, and the deeper interpretation of the original track’s samples in his main remix is enrichened by a classic French-touch guitars riff in his Funky Mix.
Preparing the ground for his next release on Layers is the Italian newcomer Katal, closing Wreal’s EP with another energy-driven House track displaying all the qualities the young talent already has showcased with his releases on Sanity or Roush amongst the others.
